Gathering Details

Our Wild Church gatherings meet monthly on the second Sunday of each month (unless noted otherwise) from 9:30–11:00 a.m. Each time we meet, we listen, pray, and reconnect with the sacred outdoors. Because our location shifts with the weather and the seasons, be sure to sign up for our newsletter to stay up to date on where we’ll be gathering next.

Or you can read from our newsletter archives to learn about details for the next gathering.

What to expect

At Wild Church Portland, our gatherings are designed to help you slow down, notice the sacred in creation, and connect with the Divine in community. We draw inspiration from the a small portion of the liturgical calendar and the Celtic seasonal wheel, weaving together scripture, poetry, movement, and reflection. We also embrace all pronouns for God, celebrating the Divine in diverse and personal ways.

A typical gathering might include:

  • Gathering & Grounding – A warm welcome and space to become present to the moment.
  • Land Acknowledgment – Honoring the land and its original stewards.
  • Reading, Blessing, or Poem – Words to open the heart and attune our senses.
  • Scripture & Reflection – Insight from scripture and other sacred texts.
  • Kid’s Story Time – Spiritual reflection designed for our younger community members.
  • Solo Wondrous Walk – A 20–25 minute quiet wander in nature, followed by time to share insights or impressions.
  • Communion – In a “Read & Respond” format, inviting participation without pressure.
Through this rhythm of gathering, wandering, and sharing, Wild Church Portland invites you to encounter God in the world around you and in one another.
